George Whaling is the owner of Teton Management Corporation and managing partner in several real estate entities including mixed-use residential and commercial properties in MA and NY. George started acquiring real estate in the mid 1990s and since, has been a major contributor to the revitalization of downtown Pittsfield in the Berkshires, where many of his buildings are located. Over the past 20 years, he has acquired, developed and sold properties valued at more than $81 million in over 152 separate transactions. His strategy is focused on acquisition of properties that are structurally sound, in need of professional management, renovation and upgrading as required. This philosophy results in stabilized properties that rent at above average rates, and deliver great returns and valuations in compressed time frames. George’s background includes sales and marketing experience with Sampco Incorporated of Pittsfield, MA in the 1990s and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Hobart College in Geneva, NY. An avid workout enthusiast and runner, George has completed three Boston Marathons, the Tough Mudder obstacle event in 2012 and 18 Josh Billings RunAground Triathalons. He also skis, bikes and hunts. George is also a longstanding member of the following local civic organizations: Berkshire Chamber of Commerce; Downtown, Inc. of Pittsfield, MA; the Berkshire County Rental Association; and the Pittsfield Economic Development Authority.
